Security Policy

BNC recognises that for certain importers security is now of paramount importance.

Under the USA’s Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) there are a number of factors that should be met by any supplier to the US.

We at BNC have taken these guidelines and incorporated them into our own security policy to ensure our compliance with any of our C-TPAT registered customers. We are confident that we can match the expectations of our customers in relation to their supplier security requirements.

Company Policies

Employee Ethical Treatment Policy

We strive to ensure that our employees are treated in an ethical manner. It is due to the ability and experience of our staff that we can manufacture our products to the highest standard; with this in mind, we do our utmost to ensure their safety and that they are treated fairly. Below is an example of our ethical treatment policy. This is not an exhaustative list, but it includes many of the major points that ensure the ethical treatment of our employees.

1. We shall not hire any employees below the Thai legal working age (18 yrs).
2. Overtime limits are set in relation to Thai Law.
3. Employees have the right to refuse overtime without penalty.
4. Employees are entitled to one day off in seven.
5. Remuneration shall be equal to or greater than national minimum wage.
6. Employees shall be provided with Social Welfare, Social Security and Health Insurance as required by Thai Law.
7. Further benefits are provided to all employees without discrimination including subsidised housing in the form of dormitories at no cost.
8. Employees shall be permitted to exercise lawful rights regarding free association.
9. Employee misconduct is treated with two clear warnings before the manager deems if termination of employment is required; with the exception of actions deemed as gross misconduct. In this case senior management will consider action to be taken.
10. Deductions from wages as a disciplinary measure are not permitted.
11. Any threats or acts of violence in the workplace shall not be tolerated.
12. Any physical abuse by the management shall result in a lawsuit and termination of the manager’s employment.
13. We do not tolerate harassment of our employees, sexual, psychological or otherwise, and shall investigate any allegations as thoroughly and confidentially as possible.
14. There shall be no negative reprisals against any employee making an official complaint.
15. All employees are made aware of their rights and our policies regarding harassment, abuse, discipline and equal rights.
16. We treat all employees, irrespective of their position in the business, with respect as human beings and ensure they are not subjected to any indignities.
17. We provide equal opportunities for employment to all applicants based on qualifications/ability/experience irrespective of differences in race, sex, religion or politics.
18. Discrimination of any kind shall not be tolerated.

Health and Safety Policy

The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees is paramount to BNC. We provide health and safety precautions that meet or exceed what is required by Thai Law, to ensure our employees are not exposed to hazards to their health or safety. Examples of such precautions are:

• Personal Protection Equipment.

• Safety guards for machinery.

• Storage of chemicals out of direct access to employees.

• Eye wash station near all chemical storage areas.

• Proper labelling of all hazardous materials.

• Fire alarms.

• Fire extinguishers and training in such equipment.

• Emergency lighting.

• Certified first aid staff.

• Infirmary provided with full time staff.

• Proper training relevant to position

• Evacuation drills.

Environmental Policy

We at BNC strive to ensure that our actions do not have an adverse effect on the environment. We comply with all Thai Laws regarding pollution and environmental protection. Also in accordance with Thai Law we report to the relevant authorities regarding such matters including, but not exclusive to, chemical and waste disposal.

In terms of direct action to reduce the amount of pollution that our factory expels, we have a number of processes. Primarily we have our own wastewater treatment; this ensures that any water we release back into the water system has been properly treated to remove any harmful pollutants. We also have a steam system to capture emissions from our boilers. This reduces the amount of carbon emissions that we release into the atmosphere. Any potentially harmful pollutants that we cannot treat and, therefore, must dispose of, are only disposed of through Government certified agents; the details of such disposals are reported to the relevant authorities.

We also have fibre options that may be of interest to environmentally aware consumers such as our range of Natural Fibres including, Cotton and Bamboo yarn, the latter having natural antibacterial properties without the need for chemical additives.
